Lake District Hen Party Ideas
The Lake District is the quintessential hen party destination for those ladies who like picturesque villages, outdoor pursuits and friendly country banter.
The area known as the Lake District is England’s largest national park, and, aside from being an area of outstanding natural beauty, it contains a host of beautiful towns and villages that provide award winning cuisine and a warm friendly pint or two (or three…).
If you are a hen party who fancy trying your hand at water sports like windsurfing, head for Lake Windermere where you can get wet-suited up and hit the water. Alternatively, pay a visit to the Coniston Boat Centre where you can hire a motor boat and even ‘walk on water’ (just wait and see!).
Hikers, ramblers and walkers are spoilt for choice in the Lake District with over 3500 stunning kilometres to explore. The official Lake District site is a good place to find tips and ideas for a more outward-bound hen weekend.
The beauty of the Lake District has influenced many of Britain’s great writers. William Wordsworth, Samuel Coleridge, John Ruskin, Alfred Wainwright and Beatrix Potter all loved the area. Fans of Mrs Potter should head to Brockhole, or to walk in the steps of Wordsworth head to Grasmere, Cockermouth and Hawkshead.
For a taste of the Lake District’s variety of eateries and nightlife, then head to Whitehaven, Ambleside, Penrith or Kendal (home of the delicious Kendal Mint Cake). There are a multitude of great places to eat like The Wild Boar & Grill Steakhouse, the Grain store at Brewery Arts Centre or Jerichos. For a drink or two you can head on down to Honister Yew Tree, the Keswick Brewing Company, or the Drunken Duck to experience some of the Lake District’s famous hospitality.
Be taught a lesson!
